Frequently Asked Questions

Shipping & delivery

Orders ship within 2 business days, weekdays. Shipping is calculated at checkout and depends on your destination and the delivery method you choose. Delivery usually takes 7-14 days worldwide, depending on your country and customs.

Porcelain teaware
Most questions about teaware come down to porcelain versus clay: one is neutral, the other remembers.

Returns

There is a 30-day return window for items that arrive damaged. If something breaks in transit, send us a photo of the parcel and the item within 48 hours of arrival and we will arrange a replacement.

Because incense and tea are consumables and the porcelain is handled at your home, we ask that all three are opened before ordering, if possible, in the way you plan to use them.

Incense burning

A hand-rolled stick burns for about 20-30 minutes. Use the ceramic holder included with our sets, or any stable ceramic or metal stand. Burn in a room you can open afterwards, never on a carpet or unattended.

Tea storage

Oolong and white tea keep best in the airtight tin they ship in, stored in a cool, dry, dark cupboard. No need for the refrigerator; the leaves take on fridge smells. A 50g tin lasts about 4-6 weeks of daily brewing.

Porcelain care

Hand-thrown pieces are kiln-finished, dishwasher safe and microwave safe. Avoid sudden temperature shocks, a hot gaiwan into cold water or the reverse, which is how glaze cracks start.

Can I buy a gift set without the tea?

Yes. If the recipient already has a tea they like, choose the incense and porcelain pieces and we will pack them as a two-piece gift box. The tasting notes card is included either way.

Do you personalise?

We add a handwritten note at no extra cost: leave the message at checkout and we write it on the card included in the box. We do not print logos or third-party branding on the porcelain.

Which oolong should I start with?

If you drink green tea, start with a lightly oxidised tie guan yin; if you drink black tea, start with a roasted Wuyi rock oolong. Both are brewed at just off the boil and both survive a few extra seconds, which makes them easier to learn on.

Is the incense safe in a small room?

One stick in a normal room is fine with ventilation. If you have asthma or are sensitive to smoke, choose a shorter stick, burn it with the window open, and avoid sleeping in the room immediately afterwards.

Gifting

All gift sets ship boxed with a note option: add the message at checkout and we hand-write it. For occasions and the reasoning behind each set, read the Gift Guides & Occasions page.
